Tue 14th Jul 2015 - Benugo reports strong turnover and like-for-like growth
Benugo reports strong turnover and like-for-like growth: Benugo, which operates high-street cafes and restaurants within corporate organisations and renowned public spaces, has reported 16% growth in turnover (£81.1m from £70.1m in 2013), for the year ending 26 December 2014. The growth is largely attributed to like-for-like growth across its high street operations (18% up on the previous year), Benugo also saw significant contract wins with the Wellcome Collection and Regent’s Park amongst others during the reporting period. Established in 1998, the company has embarked on a significant investment programme over the last year which includes the opening of a learning centre which offers a wide range of training and development opportunities to all its employees. Courses include wine tasting, cooking and barista skills training. This year, Benugo also opened a not-for-profit private members club at The House of St Barnabas, a charity which help homeless people get back to work by offering work placements within its locations. The charity helps to train and develop those from disadvantaged background, eventually offering roles to successful candidates. Benugo now employs 16 of its graduates. Ben Warner, founder of Benugo, said: “We are delighted with all our success this year although we know that we must continue to invest in our people, product, and brand, to help us continue to grow and develop. This investment will help us create a sustainable platform for growth and help create more jobs and opportunities for the many talented people working in our industry.” Benugo is part of WSH, a holding company made up of six trading brands in the food and hospitality sector. WSH also announced the creation of over 1,250 new jobs during the reporting period following continued growth and investment. During the reporting period, WSH increased turnover by more than 10% to £590.7m from £534.8m across its brands which also include BaxterStorey, Holroyd Howe, Caterlink, Portico and Searcy’s.
